Ces serpents, fort rares, allaient très vite en faisant un grand bruit. Si l'on parvenait à s'emparer de la pierre, elle constituait un talisman des plus précieux. C'est en puisant dans le patrimoine immatériel et historique que mes oeuvres émergent sous des formes syncrétiques. Mes recherches ont porté sur le culte des pierres dans le luchonnais, sur l'architecture des greniers à foin pyrénéens, mais aussi sur les fresques médiévales lacunaires et les stèles votives aux ancêtres gallo-romaines des églises romanes de la Vallée d'Oueil. Les objets hybrides sont conçus comme des reliques et des artefacts d'un culte inventé, issu d'une sédimentation de mémoires collectives, de mythologies et de fiction prospective.. Long ago, in the nearby forests, one could see large snakes with a shining stone on their heads. These snakes, quite rare, moved very quickly and made a great noise. If one managed to seize the stone, it became a most precious talisman. It is by drawing on intangible and historical heritage that my works emerge in syncretic forms. My research has focused on the cult of stones in the Luchon region, on the architecture of Pyrenean hay barns, but also on fragmentary medieval frescoes and votive stelae dedicated to the Gallo-Roman ancestors of the Romanesque churches in the Oueil Valley. La dourne est une cruche de tête médiévale, conçue pour transporter l’eau. Comme le décrivent les études archéologiques, c’est un type de cruche de forme circulaire, très pansue et munie du bec verseur rond centré sur la panse, et d’une ou plusieurs anses. « Elle présente aussi des décors simples, tels que des impressions digitées alignées sur le haut de la panse, des cordons rapportés, et des trous percés dans les anses qui facilitaient le séchage des parties épaisses.» (Géraud M., La céramique médiévale dite "Commingeoise", Thèse de doctorat, Univ. Jean Jaurès, 2024) Légère, portée sur la tête à l'aide de tissu enroulé ou noué, elle laissait les mains libres à celleux qui la portaient. Cette poterie revêt une double fonction, utilitaire et symbolique. Cette caractéristique révèle à la fois l'aspect domestique de la vie rurale médiévale, avoir les mains libres pour continuer à travailler, se déplacer ; et une portée symbolique, dans sa fonction plus rituelle et sociale. La dourne était portée sur la tête, pendant les fêtes de village, notamment lors de courses et de danses. La dourne accueille ici l'Élixir des estives, réalisé avec les plantes cueillies dans les collines, les prés, autour des bergeries (carotte sauvage, sauge sclarée, thym de bergère, marjolaine, menthe velue, menthe à feuille ronde, vergerette), distillées à l'eau de Guran. La dourne à rêve, activée par l’élixir, a le pouvoir de générer des visions, des espoirs et des songes, à ce.lle.lui qui souhaite la porter sur sa tête. Exploring the use of medieval pottery and medicinal mountain plants, Dounia Chemsseddoha creates performative ceramics that seek to establish a dialogue between ancient techniques and the living world. By reinterpreting simple yet ingenious forms, the project aims to breathe new life into modest objects imbued with memory. The dourne is a medieval water jug, designed for carrying water. As described in archaeological studies, it is a type of jug with a circular shape, a very wide belly, and a round spout centered on the body, and one or more handles. It also features simple decorations, such as finger impressions aligned on the upper part of the body, applied cords, and holes drilled in the handles that facilitated the drying of the thicker sections. (Géraud M., Medieval Pottery Known as "Commingeoise", Doctoral Thesis, University of Jean Jaurès, 2024) Lightweight and carried on the head with a wrapped or knotted cloth, it left the wearer's hands free. This pottery served a dual purpose, both utilitarian and symbolic. This characteristic reveals both the domestic aspect of medieval rural life—having hands free to continue working and moving about—and a symbolic significance in its more ritualistic and social function. The dourne was worn on the head during village festivals, particularly during races and dances. Here, the dourne holds the Summer Pasture Elixir, made with plants gathered in the hills and meadows around sheepfolds (wild carrot, clary sage, shepherd's thyme, marjoram, hairy mint, round-leaved mint, fleabane), distilled with Guran water. Une artiste venue des bords de Garonne et installée depuis des années à Berlin dessine la nature avec une minutie empreinte de poésie.Un tout jeune diplômé de l’isdaT peint de grands tableaux d’Histoire à partir de ses voyages dans le métro toulousain, des peintures à la fois sensibles et impressionnantes qui irradient l’espace de leur présence colorée. Comment réunir des artistes aussi différents les uns des autres ?Il suffit de créer une règle du jeu toute simple et de toujours la respecter : Associer ensemble des artistes sans aucun ressort curatorial, juste par envie, pour retrouver un principe primitif de l’art : celui du plaisir… Mais que fait le commissaire ?!?!
