Présentation de Extras, dans le cadre de la troisième Inflitration du collectif G.A.R.R.A.G.E au sein de l’espace La Bouillonnante (ancien locaux toulousains de Orange France Telecom)Quoi de plus adéquat que de présenter les principes de ce laboratoire d’expérimentations dans les anciens locaux d’un grand groupe de télécommunication vidé de son activité. Dans cet espace redevenu liminal, dont le passé a été effacé et le futur ne s’écrira point.Un laboratoire qui s’anime par cycles, dans des temporalités et espaces différents, générant des surgissement, des potentialités, des émergences. Usant d’une approche potique et parapsychologique dans une logique mouvante, suivant le cours d’intuitions et d’envies.Extras I&#38;nbsp;présente le principe du projet, différents dispositifs et protocoles expérimentaux installés au sol dans l’espace d’un plateau au premier étage du bâtiment.

What could be more fitting than to present the principles of this experimental laboratory in the former offices of a major telecommunications group, now stripped of its operations? In this space that has once again become liminal—its past erased and its future yet to be written.A laboratory that comes to life in cycles, across different times and spaces, generating surges, potentialities, and emergences.
Using a poetic and parapsychological approach within a fluid framework, following the course of intuitions and desires. Extras I presents the project’s concept, featuring various experimental devices and protocols installed on the floor of a platform on the building’s first floor.

La méthode Estes est une technique de communication extra-sensorielle utilisée pour communiquer avec les esprits et entités.Cette méthode a été mise au point par les enquêteurs en paranormal Karl Pfeiffer, Michelle Tate et Connor J. En référence au film Stalker, du réalisateur russe Andréï Tarkovski, de 1979. Le film raconte le voyage d'un écrivain et d'un scientifique guidés par un passeur 'le stalker' dans la Zone, friche industrielle inhabitée, à la recherche d'une chambre qui exaucerait tous les vœux. Pour évoluer lentement dans ce paysage : le stalker jette un boulon au bout d'une ficelle comme une sonde pour évaluer le sol de la Zone, entité autonome qui est mouvante et changeante, et dont la topographie est incertaine et recèle de pièges.Dans ce protocole qui fait référence à la&#38;nbsp;« Speculative fiction”,&#38;nbsp;lesTalismans-Sondes en grès émaillé sont attachés à une bandelette de coton blanc. On lance le Talisman-Sonde comme une fronde afin d’évaluer le sol et d’évoluer dans l’espace.

Variable dimensions.

A reference to the 1979 film Stalker by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky. The film tells the story of a writer and a scientist guided by a guide—“the stalker”—into the Zone, an uninhabited industrial wasteland, in search of a room that would grant all their wishes. To move slowly through this landscape, the stalker throws a bolt tied to a string like a probe to assess the ground of the Zone—an autonomous entity that is shifting and ever-changing, whose topography is uncertain and fraught with traps. In this protocol, which draws on “speculative fiction,” the glazed stoneware Talisman-Probes are attached to a strip of white cotton. The Talisman-Probe is launched like a slingshot to assess the ground and navigate the space.

	Élixir des estives&#38;nbsp;a été réalisé par distillation de plantes aromatiques et médicinales cueillies dans les collines, les prés, autour des bergeries (carotte sauvage, sauge sclarée, thym de bergère, marjolaine, menthe velue, menthe à feuille ronde, vergerette), distillées à l'eau de Guran.
Le liquide versé dans la pièce Dourne à rêves&#38;nbsp;vient l’activer et lui inssufler ainsi le potentiel de générer des visions, des espoirs et des rêves, à ce.lle.lui qui souhaite la porter la pièce en céramique sur sa tête.
	L'Élixir des estives&#38;nbsp; was created by distilling aromatic and medicinal plants gathered in the hills, meadows, and around sheepfolds (wild carrot, clary sage, shepherd's thyme, marjoram, hairy mint, round-leaf mint, fleabane), distilled with Guran water. 
The liquid poured into the Dourne à rêves activates it, imbuing it with the potential to generate visions, hopes, and dreams for whoever wishes to wear the ceramic piece on their head.

	Autrefois on voyait dans les forêts du voisinage, de grands serpents qui avaient une pierre brillante sur la tête. Ces serpents, fort rares, allaient très vite en faisant un grand bruit. Si l'on parvenait à s'emparer de la pierre, elle constituait un talisman des plus précieux.

C'est en puisant dans le patrimoine immatériel et historique que mes oeuvres émergent sous des formes syncrétiques. Mes recherches ont porté sur le culte des pierres dans le luchonnais, sur l'architecture des greniers à foin pyrénéens, mais aussi sur les fresques médiévales lacunaires et les stèles votives aux ancêtres gallo-romaines des églises romanes de la Vallée d'Oueil.
Les objets hybrides sont conçus comme des reliques et des artefacts d'un culte inventé, issu d'une sédimentation de mémoires collectives, de mythologies et de fiction prospective..
	Long ago, in the nearby forests, one could see large snakes with a shining stone on their heads. These snakes, quite rare, moved very quickly and made a great noise. If one managed to seize the stone, it became a most precious talisman.

It is by drawing on intangible and historical heritage that my works emerge in syncretic forms. My research has focused on the cult of stones in the Luchon region, on the architecture of Pyrenean hay barns, but also on fragmentary medieval frescoes and votive stelae dedicated to the Gallo-Roman ancestors of the Romanesque churches in the Oueil Valley.
These hybrid objects are conceived as relics and artifacts of an invented cult, born from a sedimentation of collective memories, mythologies, and speculative fiction.

	"Explorant l’usage de la poterie médiévale et des plantes médicinales de la montagne, Dounia Chemsseddoha crée des céramiques performatives qui cherchent à faire dialoguer le geste ancien et le vivant. En réinterprétant les formes sobres et ingénieuses, le projet vise à redonner vie à des objets modestes mais chargés des mémoire."
La dourne est une cruche de tête médiévale, conçue pour transporter l’eau. Comme le décrivent les études archéologiques, c’est un type de cruche de forme circulaire, très pansue et munie du bec verseur rond centré sur la panse, et d’une ou plusieurs anses. « Elle présente aussi des décors simples, tels que des impressions digitées alignées sur le haut de la panse, des cordons rapportés, et des trous percés dans les anses qui facilitaient le séchage des parties épaisses.» (Géraud M., La céramique médiévale dite "Commingeoise", Thèse de doctorat, Univ. Jean Jaurès, 2024)
Légère, portée sur la tête à l'aide de tissu enroulé ou noué, elle laissait les mains libres à celleux qui la portaient. Cette poterie revêt une double fonction, utilitaire et symbolique. Cette caractéristique révèle à la fois l'aspect domestique de la vie rurale médiévale, avoir les mains libres pour continuer à travailler, se déplacer ; et une portée symbolique, dans sa fonction plus rituelle et sociale. La dourne était portée sur la tête, pendant les fêtes de village, notamment lors de courses et de danses.
La dourne accueille ici l'Élixir des estives, réalisé avec les plantes cueillies dans les collines, les prés, autour des bergeries (carotte sauvage, sauge sclarée, thym de bergère, marjolaine, menthe velue, menthe à feuille ronde, vergerette), distillées à l'eau de Guran.
La dourne à rêve, activée par l’élixir, a le pouvoir de générer des visions, des espoirs et des songes, à ce.lle.lui qui souhaite la porter sur sa tête.
	Exploring the use of medieval pottery and medicinal mountain plants, Dounia Chemsseddoha creates performative ceramics that seek to establish a dialogue between ancient techniques and the living world. By reinterpreting simple yet ingenious forms, the project aims to breathe new life into modest objects imbued with memory.

The dourne is a medieval water jug, designed for carrying water. As described in archaeological studies, it is a type of jug with a circular shape, a very wide belly, and a round spout centered on the body, and one or more handles. It also features simple decorations, such as finger impressions aligned on the upper part of the body, applied cords, and holes drilled in the handles that facilitated the drying of the thicker sections. (Géraud M., Medieval Pottery Known as "Commingeoise", Doctoral Thesis, University of Jean Jaurès, 2024)

Lightweight and carried on the head with a wrapped or knotted cloth, it left the wearer's hands free. This pottery served a dual purpose, both utilitarian and symbolic. This characteristic reveals both the domestic aspect of medieval rural life—having hands free to continue working and moving about—and a symbolic significance in its more ritualistic and social function. The dourne was worn on the head during village festivals, particularly during races and dances.

Here, the dourne holds the Summer Pasture Elixir, made with plants gathered in the hills and meadows around sheepfolds (wild carrot, clary sage, shepherd's thyme, marjoram, hairy mint, round-leaved mint, fleabane), distilled with Guran water.

The dream dourne, activated by the elixir, has the power to generate visions, hopes and dreams for whoever wishes to wear it on their head.

une perception sensible et poétique du monde”
C'est en puisant dans le patrimoine immmatériel et historique que mes oeuvres ont émergé sous des formes syncrétiques. Pendant ce mois de résidence, mes recherches ont porté sur la céramique médiévale&#38;nbsp;— en particulier sur le travail de Manon Géraud, archéologue-céramologue à l’Inrap et sa thèse de doctorat “La céramique médiévale dite ‘commingeoise’”),&#38;nbsp;sur le culte des pierres dans le Luchonnais, sur l'architecture des greniers à foin pyrénéens, mais aussi sur les fresques médiévales lacunaires et les stèles votives aux ancêtres gallo-romaines des églises romanes de la Vallée d'Oueil. Les objets hybrides sont conçus comme des reliques et des artefacts d'un culte inventé, issu d'une sédimentation de mémoires collectives, de mythologies et de fiction prospective.

By reinterpreting simple yet ingenious forms, the project aims to breathe new life into modest objects steeped in memory.”

“Dounia CHemsseddoha explores the invisible and the sacre through hybrid works combining ceramics, medicinal plants and rituals. Inspired by esotericism, science fiction and ancestral knowledge, she creates poem-objects that question our connection to life and invite us to a sensitive and poetic perception of the world”

It is by delving into intangible and
historical heritage that my artworks have taken shape, unfolding in
syncretic forms. Throughout this month-long residency, my research
has drawn upon medieval ceramics 


—particularly the work of Manon
Géraud, archaeologist and ceramologist at Inrap, and her doctoral
thesis “Medieval Ceramics Known as ‘Commingeoise'”, the stone-worship
traditions of the Luchon region, the architecture of Pyrenean hay
lofts, as well as fragmentary medieval frescoes and the Gallo-Roman
ancestral votive steles preserved in the Romanesque churches of the
Vallée d'Oueil. These hybrid objects are conceived as
relics—artifacts of an imagined cult, arising from the slow
sedimentation of collective memory, mythology, and speculative
narrative.
